 "Just like the original" 2010-04-29
By Gordon Johnson (Augusta, GA USA)
I was way too close to chucking my entire 1998 Makita drill, charger, and two dead batteries, even though the drill worked as good as ever.

Buying this one replacement battery, even for $44 dollars, feels much more responsible. It appears to be equal to the original in every way, even says 'Made in Japan'. I've decided I don't really need two. Amazon's price was among the lowest, but to their advantage, they do not have to take the old batteries back for recycling.

 "My drill battery" 2010-02-14
By Tony Taco (Houston, TX, US)
I really like my new Makita drill battery. It's a nice red color and it recharges nicely in the old charger. All my friends and neighbors comment that I am even more handsome now that I have a new drill battery. I recommend that any one suffering from low self esteem or lower back discomfort should try one of these fine replacement batteries... (I resonantly won a $3 scratch off after my purchase).

Buy this battery through Amazon.com and watch as others are envious of your new found prestige.

Respectfully submitted,

Tony Taco

"New Battery for Old Makita" 2009-11-05
By L. Frankfather (Los Angeles, CA United States)
I got my Makita drill used, several years ago, when a sheet metal construction group replaced their old Makitas with a newer version. My Makita came with two batteries. Recently, just when my sons were beginning a project during which my Makita would be used extensively, one of the old batteries died. I found a 9-3/5-Vold NiCad replacement battery on Amazon; the price was very good, so I ordered two of this item.

The batteries arrived in excellent condition, in the time frame promised. I am very pleased to report that my old Makita is acting like a new drill with the new batteries, and my sons' project has gone much more quickly because of the "new energy" these batteries provide.

brought my drill back to like new performance. I'm a boat mechanic and use my drill and flashlight all day long. After 5 years the old batteries needed constant charging so i broke down and bought one. I was glad i did and you will be too!

Order one of these. No complaints. It is a Makita brand battery and it appears to be exactly like my old Makita battery. Works great.

 "Battery Review" 2010-04-25

Battery arrived on time and as described. Looked new in packaging and has worked well. Got to hand it to Makita for continuing to make this particular battery. I appreciated the availability.

"Poor customer service all around!" 2009-05-31
By S. Brack (New Mexico)
I'm extremely disappointed with the item and the service. I had ordered 2 batteries and in receiving them I had only received one (the shipping invoice read "2" shipped)and had to ask for the second one. The email address on the invoice is incorrect (I figured out the mistake on my own when writing an email about being short shipped one battery-which they did respond to). The batteries are labeled the same as the ones I currently have (and needed to replace) but my charger is not "reading" them once I place them in it. There is no phone contact number to speak with anyone in asking for assistance. I have contacted (emailed) them on two additional occassions without any response back. They STILL haven't responded. I have asked for help with charging of the batteries, asked for a phone number to speak with someone, and gave them my phone number to have someone call me. Upon no response to my outreach I have finally emailed one last time for an RA number to return. Time has now lapsed past the noted return date on the invoice and I feel suspicious that they did this to avoid taking them back. Overall sketchy deal.

"Original battery for a great tool!" 2009-03-03
By D. Dickason (Memphis)
I have had my Makita 9.6v drill since 1992 (17 years!) and this is the third pair of batteries I have purchased. The second set still work but are getting weak so I purchased another pair. I have used my drill hard and I love these batteries. I once stripped the paint off a 12' aluminum boat using a 3" wire wheel in the drill and rotated between the two batteries for 15 hours straight (use one, charge the other, repeat) until all the 20 year old enamel paint was gone. 'Nuff said!

"Keeps My Trusty Makita Cordless Drill Going!" 2009-01-18
By Kenneth R. Kadan (San Diego, CA)
Just like the Energizer Rabbit, these wonderful batteries keep my trusty Makita Cordless Drill going and going! My first dual set of Makita batteries lasted over 11 years. I don't like the new cordless power tools they crank out today with the huge batteries that add too much additional weight. These slim stick batteries disappear into the Makita handle and add only a minimum of evenly dispersed weight to the drill. Nice. I prefer to purchase the batteries two at a time. One inside the drill and the other in the charger. Needless to say, I love my Makita Cordless Drill. I hope they keep manufacturing these genuine Makita replacement batteries for many years to come.

 "barely worth it" 2010-02-02
By T.willy (CA)
I agree with other reviewers that these batteries have a short lifespan. They were hyped by the factory reps as being just the opposite. They are no better than the old nicad. I hope the electric car makers will be using superior technology to this lousy stuff.

 "Great drill, bad batteries" 2009-12-02
By A. Dufault (Irvine, CA USA)
Unfortunately, these batteries seem to last less than a year. I store them in the house at a stable temperature and yet I can only get about 10-15 minutes of use and that's it... I have had many drills and these NiMH batteries have been a big disappointment. At $140 for two new batteries, it seems smarter to buy a new drill and battery type. Hope this helps.

 "Makita Battery" 2009-09-26
By John Hashimoto (heart of america)
It was nice to finally get a real factory battery for my drill. I had priced the sub-c cells at a number of places thinking that I would take the old battery pack apart and solder these together to renew my battery pack but after comparing prices it was not worth the time and effort. The members of my woodworking club have reported that rebuilt battery packs are not a good investment as they don't perform well. I was glad to see this battery in the sealed Makita bubble. There are a lot of aftermarket batteries out there but I was real happy with the performance of this unit. Amazon price way beats the local big box retailer that I use for lumber.
